Paring knives are very versatile. They can be found in almost any kitchen, and certainly in any professional one. They have a fairly short blade, usually around 2 to 3 inches, a smooth blade and a straight, sharp point. Because they are comfortable in the hand and easy to handle, they are often used for a wide range of tasks, from peeling and slicing to chopping and cutting, and can be applied to vegetables and fruits, but also for example to clean and cut mushrooms.
